Simple tzatziki to make, fresh for summer and perfect on a toast with some toppings. This delicious recipe made with cucumber, greek yogurt and herbs is perfect with a lot of things: as a dip or a sauce.
I really love dip! Hummus, guacamole, cream cheese, and tzatziki are my jam. Sometimes, I don’t know if I prefer savory or sweet things. I mean, I could die for chocolate but, I think I prefer a hummus toast with bread and butter pickles than a cookie. Don’t worry, I have delicious sweet recipes I will share with you, I just say, dips are great!
You probably have seen on the blog, I’m inspired by Mediterranean food. I really love it. Greece is beautiful with very delicious food. The best thing about this cuisine is all the vegetables they use. You don’t have any problem if you are a vegetarian in Greece, Italy, etc. You will find delicious meals with grilled vegetables like eggplant, zucchinis or bell peppers.
Tzatziki is Greek and Greek cuisine is really good. Have you ever tried Greek Moussaka? It’s made with ground beef (I think the real version is with lamb, not sure), bechamel, tomato sauce, and eggplant. I saw lots of vegetarian versions, they look so delicious! I have to try both versions for everybody. But today let’s talk of this easy to make Tzatziki.
Why tzatziki is a good recipe?
You can use tzatziki with lots of meals or recipes. The first time I made tzatziki, it was for Adrian, my husband. He loves Turkish food with kebab. I wanted to make him a homemade version because we don’t have kebab in State College. I made homemade pita bread (another delicious recipe I will share!), marinated and grilled chicken, raw vegetables and tzatziki as a sauce. He loved it! The tzatziki adds freshness to this Turkish sandwich. But it’s also a good recipe as a dip. You can make a board with raw carrots, cucumber, some crackers and it’s perfect for a Netflix night! The big plus is this recipe is healthy.
What do you need to make tzatziki?
Actually, you don’t need too much kitchen tools to realize this recipe. To grate the cucumber, you can use a simple boxed grater. Personally, I have the chance to have a Ninja Blender with a grater. It’s easier and faster. But despite it, you only need a mixing bowl and a spatula.
What are the ingredients?
About the ingredients, nothing difficult to find! You will need half of a cucumber, greek yogurt (I prefer regular and not less fat for this recipe, but for the brand, I don’t have a favorite, I like the Walmart brand, not too much expensive and good taste), fresh dill and mint, lemon juice (made with fresh lemon), salt and pepper. All these are not expensive and available everywhere.
I hope you will love this new simple recipe! I also have to share with you my hummus recipe! Another Mediterranean recipe. Tell me how you will use this recipe! You can try it as a sauce with my Crispy fish recipe and the Mint Meatballs. Have a nice day!
