Pesto doesn’t have to be complicated with lots of technique and ingredients! This version is simple but very delicious. Only 3 ingredients and ready in 5 minutes!
I’m an Italian food lover! When I went to Italy last summer in 2018, I fell in love with this amazing cuisine. Ok, I gained 4 kilos when I came back but what beautiful food! Everything is fresh, homemade (if you choose a good restaurant) and so cheap! I remember these amazing dishes with good pesto or tomato sauce. One of my favorite things about Italian food is simplicity. For their best dishes, they use only some ingredients. For example, the best pizza is the Neapolitan Margherita, there are tomato sauce, mozzarella, and some basil leaves, that’s all.
Today, I wanted to share with you a simple sauce: Pesto. Pesto is one of my favorites! I love it so much with pasta, but also in Pizza (I tried this weekend a pizza slice with pesto, not bad!) and in grilled cheese. But I’m sure, I love it with lots of other things!
There are a million of pesto version. There is the vegan pesto with cashew nuts, very delicious, I should share my recipe but also the “true” version with pine nuts, the kale version, etc. I think the basis is basil and after you mix everything you want. Today, we want a simple, 3 ingredients and delicious version!
What are the ingredients?
You need basil, a big bunch. Choose your favorite basil that smells good. You can also buy an organic version. The best basil is from your garden (if you have the chance to have one). I don’t have a garden in America but the basil from my mom’s garden is amazing in France! Then, good quality olive oil. This ingredient is very important, if you buy bad olive oil, the taste won’t be great. You don’t have to spend lots of money but try to have a good one. To finish, Parmigiano! Grated Parmigiano adds some salt and taste really great. This cheese adds some creamy to the pesto.

Simple pesto ready in 5 minutes! Perfect for your pasta, pizza or other dish.
- 1 big bunch of pesto
- 1/3 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup grated Parmigiano
- Rinse the basil and take the leaves. Place all the ingredients in a food processor and mix until you have a creamy pesto.
