This healthy banana bread is a simple recipe to make with easy to find ingredients. You can make it fast for a snack in the afternoon as well as for breakfast. It will please the whole family and satisfy the cravings of sugar.
My history with banana bread is great. I discovered this recipe years ago when I was in the University. I had entered a period of questioning about my diet, I wanted to eat better. That’s why I was looking for healthy recipes for breakfast or just if I had a craving for sugar in the afternoon. I found several recipes of banana bread. Most remained very rich in sugar and kept the principle of sweet cake. At that time, I was working on recipes to make them as healthy as possible. That’s when I made this recipe. I had made it vegan and with flaxseed. This version is a little simpler with ingredients that we find everywhere.
Speaking of these “healthy” ingredient recipes, I want mine to be simple ingredients. We tend to think that the more exotic the ingredients are, the healthier they are for our health. That is really not the case. Take for example the famous Acai berries. We talk about it with fascination when we have almost the same benefits with blueberry. That is why we sometimes have to appreciate what we find in our country. Moreover, it is much more ecological!
Let’s go back to my banana bread, it’s a really delicious recipe. I love it at tea time, it’s a sweet treat with 100% natural sugar. I decided to put dried figs in it but you can quite add your favorite dry fruit. This must be very good with cranberries or dried apricots! If you are fond of sugar, add dates, they are very sweet. It is also possible to add fresh fruit but take the time to flour them a little so that they do not fall to the bottom of the mould.

Description
Delicious banana bread with healthy and simple ingredients, perfect for breakfast or for the tea time.
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cup mashed banana (about 3 medium ripe banana)
- 1/2 cup almond milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp canola oil
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup chopped dried figs
Instructions
- Pre-heat the oven at 400°F.
- Mash the bananas in a bowl with a fork. Mix the wet ingredients with mashed banana, almond milk, egg, honey, vanilla extract and oil.
- In another bowl, combine the dry ingredients with the all purpose flour, whole wheat flour, oats, salt and baking powder.

Mix the two mixtures together and add the chopped dried figs. Pour into a rectangular greased pan and place in the oven for 45 minutes. Let cool a few minutes before serving.
